Erin Burnett Asks Tough Question to Jeb Hensarling Who Takes No Responsibility for Failure of Super Committee

A parade of Republicans were on TV today trying to deflect blame onto President Obama for their raising taxes on 160 million Americans on January 1, 2012. In the eleventh hour Republicans have found religion and care about the middle-class, the unemployed, the elderly and the 160 million voters whose taxes will go up $1000 next year.  That last Republican propagandist I saw was Jeb Hensarling who co-chaired the failed Super Committee which could not reduce the deficit by a very small amount.  I believe he also voted “No” on Simpson Bowles.  Although chosen to recite from the script that all republican talking heads used today, when questioned by Erin Burnett (CNN), Hensarling refused to accept any responsibility for the fiscal failures he headed. His response was useless party rhetoric. Typical! Mr. Hensarling, we want our country back from a Congress that no longer serves us!

“On a Clear Day You Can See Forever!”

This just in!  Karen Finney, former Communications Director of the Democratic National Committee and now political analyst for MSNBC just revealed why Republicans hold the Keystone XL Pipeline so dear and were willing to vote for an increase in income taxes for 160 million hard-working Americans: Remember who Grover Norquist is? Regular readers of this blog will.  If you are new please use the SEARCH feature on this page and read about the man who has secured written pledges from Republicans in Congress NOT TO RAISE TAXES in their lifetimes.  Now we know that these pledges were meant for the pocketbooks of millionaires and billionaires, but, through their maneuvering, House Speaker, John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantorhave RAISED TAXES ON THE MIDDLE-CLASS! THAT MEANS YOU! Beginning January 1, Republicans have raised your taxes by $1000! Many on unemployment have had their benefits reduced. Seniors’ healthcare is in jeopardy because federal repayments to doctors who treat Medicare patients might(?) be reduced.  Well, why did Republicans were so passionate about including the clamor over the Keystone XL Pipeline in this mix?  Because they all are about money? Not exactly. According to

English: Grover Norquist at a political confer...
Grover Norquist

Karen, the Keystone XL Pipeline is a client of one, Grover Norquist, Republican lobbyist and head of Americans for Tax Reform!  So, people, the dots are all connected.  This is why John Boehner’s constituents demonstrated against him at his local office and were refused admittance.  This is why our approval rating of the Congress is at an all-time low of 11%! This is why so many Americans think our politicians are crooks!  THROW THE BUMS OUT!

We can never forget the most famous Republican crook in history:

HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER, Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) Goes on TV to Shift Blame for His Screw-Up on Handling Tax Extension

12-21-11 10:34 Democrat, Rep. Chris Van Hollen just announced that Republican leaders of the US House did not show up to lead a vote on a measure proposed by Democratic Leader, Rep. Steny Hoyer which, if approved, would put a bill on the President’s desk TODAY and solve the current political morass in DC.

====O====

12-21-11 9:51  Eric Cantor just went on TV and made a lame attempt to shift the blame from himself, his Tea Party and his mouthpiece, Speaker John Boehner who are left in Washington with no US Senate after the Senate Democrats (and Republicans) made a deal with House Republicans and then went on holiday until January 23, 2012. Eric Cantor and John Boehner are trying to blame their bad decisions on President Obama who made his position clear and watched Republicans try to wag the Whitehouse. The President is resolute! For some reason, Tea Party representatives, headed(?) by Cantor, reneged on the tax extension deal with Speaker Boehner and Senator Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader in the Senate, after the fact. Now Majority Leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, says he will not be jerked around and made to call the Senate back into session. Both he and House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi say that they will not send Democrats to the Conference Committee that Republicans voted on and  are using to add to the GOP Pall over Christmas.  Republicans have set in motion a tax increase of $1000 for 160 million American workers after they (Republicans) signed a pledge to NEVER RAISE TAXES IN THEIR LIFETIME!  There has been no comment from pledge-holder, Grover Norquist. It is ludicrous that Republicans can try to convince us that – in the larger picture – TWO MONTHS can be so catastrophic in the business of the nation. They distract from larger issues like unemployment and Republican opposition to the American Jobs Act which would create thousands of jobs (millions?).  Why are Republicans magnifying this issue to the exclusion of all others?  Why is Eric Cantor feigning an interest in the middle-class?  To save face?  Eric, the people are tired of seeing your face on TV talking about everything but compassionate solutions which improve “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” in America.  The middle-class knows who to blame for the mess we are in. You can’t go on TV and try to confuse us. To know who is “making water” over their heads, the little guy only has to raise his umbrella, look up…AND SEE YOUR FACE!

Republicans, you have no divine right to dominate us. God loves us all!

“I Ran a Bar. I Can Run America!” (Guess Who)

House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor and House Speaker, John Boehner

Who will play John Boehner and Eric Cantor in the movie version of “The Decline of America and Its Congress in 2011?”  The picture above make me think of the farce going on in Russia: Putin and Medvedev. Must thousands and thousands of Americans take to the streets before our government sees that we are serious in our discontent? Must we forget that we are Americans and burn cars and engage in breaking store windows, etc.? I say “No!” We are better than that.  The foundation of America has peaceful means for change. But, it will not work without the force of numbers. Don’t sit back and leave it to others to restore America, the make “We want out country back” a meaning rally cry of the American Revolution of 2012 whereby the people finally “threw the bums out” and voted for honest politicians (oxymoron?) and reform the greatest nation on earth!

WILL SPEAKER JOHN BOEHNER SURVIVE 2012? (Eric Cantor Waits in the wings))

Speaker of the House John Boehner has made no progress in achieving his independence and power as head of the US House. He is just their talking head.  It is said that behind his office door the real power is Eric Cantor who is the public face of the Tea Party element in the House.  If I heard it correctly on TV, only 60 tea party representatives are the extremists control what Boehner is forced to say and emote in his constant appearances on TV. [John, is this any way to live?] [Eric, are you enjoying being “Iago” to Boehner’s “Othello?”]  The American people are not pleased with either of you.  You receive a failing grade! Thanks to Republicans the public opinion of Congress is at a historic low: 9!  If this was a parliamentary system, you’d be given a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE and be kicked out on your asses!

REPUBLICANS REFUSE TO DEAL WITH THE TRUTH

At present Republicans in the Congress refuse to pass the President’s American Jobs Act either as a package or rolled out piecemeal. They continue to ignore the admonitions from Standard and Poor’s on why it downgraded our credit rating:

  • We have lowered our long-term sovereign credit rating on the United States of America to ‘AA+’ from ‘AAA’ and affirmed the ‘A-1+’ short-term rating.
  • We have also removed both the short- and long-term ratings from CreditWatch negative.
  • The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government’s medium-term debt dynamics.
  • More broadly, the downgrade reflects our view that the effectiveness, stability, and predictability of American policymaking and political institutions have weakened at a time of ongoing fiscal and economic challenges to a degree more than we envisioned when we assigned a negative outlook to the rating on April 18, 2011.
  • Since then, we have changed our view of the difficulties in bridging the gulf between the political parties over fiscal policy, which makes us pessimistic about the capacity of Congress and the Administration to be able to leverage their agreement this week into a broader fiscal consolidation plan that stabilizes the government’s debt dynamics any time soon.
  • The outlook on the long-term rating is negative. We could lower the long-term rating to ‘AA’ within the next two years if we see that less reduction in spending than agreed to, higher interest rates, or new fiscal pressures during the period result in a higher general government debt trajectory than we currently assume in our base case. [Standard and Poor’s]

Republicans in Congress must think that the nation is like the double-hull Titanic that couldn’t sink. And, their actions prove that they must hit that iceberg to test the theory. Democrats are more than willing to meet with Republican leaders and try to reach compromise. Sen. McConnell, Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor are at the helm of the ship of state with the President.  There is an ugly struggle for control with the Republicans insisting that Democrats yield to their demands and accept their vision.  This is not the way a healthy democracy works.  We are at risk of other downgrades by Republican willingness to wreck the country to achieve political advantage over Barack Obama. It is more than racism. Some think this is pure and evil hatred on their part. Certainly, God does not approve of what the Tea Party Republicans are doing.  Would that they would seek His counsel. “The moving finger writes…and then moves on.”
