This excerpt from Sam Stein (Huffington Post) might explain the atypical Republican’s feelings about blacks and Latinos. Asians? American Indians?

“When Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) announced his most recent run for the White House back in May 2011, MSNBC Host Chris Matthews pressed him on the extent of his libertarian convictions. Would he have opposed the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act had he been in office when it was considered, Matthews wanted to know.
It was a hypothetical question and Paul gave a fairly broad answer, saying he appreciated the intent of the law but disagreed with the specific language on property rights.
Left unmentioned was that Paul had — in more than a hypothetical sense — already cast a vote on the famous bill. On June 24, 2004, the House of Representatives took up a resolution “recognizing and honoring the 40th anniversary of congressional passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.” Four hundred and fourteen members voted yes, and 18 didn’t show up to vote. Only one member said nay: Ron Paul.”

I am sick of hearing Republicans ascribe this promise and that promise that were not on the November ballot! Did you hear Speaker Boehner speak at about 5:40pm trying to justify his actions and those of his colleagues?  They think that bad ideas have merit and are better than no ideas.  Well…

One thing for sure, the Tea Party may be hated by most of us, but, they have sparked a conversation about our politics and our political system.  We need some changes made! One group I have not heard mentioned in all the talking on TV is the poor.  Not only are poor Americans suffering the ills of poverty, they have to suffer when they get sick or have chronic health problems.  Medicaid is a blessing and, perhaps, a human right.  Republicans seek to cut the money the federal government contributes to the healthcare of poor people: Medicaid!  At the same time they stubbornly protect the low tax rates enjoyed by millionaires, billionaires and large corporations!  And, they justify neither of their actions.  If you ask them if they are patriots, they would say, “Yes” in loud voices.  They are not the best America has to offer.  We are a Christian nation that dispenses charity and compassion to all downtrodden Americans.  Just when and how did the Republican Party go wrong?

You have responded to the President’s call to use social and conventional media to express your opinions to your representatives in Washington. Please continue to pour on the heat!
